What age do serious
Moroccan men
really look for?

Written by the DAR TISLIT team · reviewed by Nadia, founder · updated on 18 October 2026

An analysis of 57 men's applications received by DAR TISLIT in France, each giving an age range for their future wife, shows a reality far more nuanced than the cliché of “the man who only wants a 25-year-old”. The study was carried out in France. We share it here because these expectations are often familiar in Moroccan communities elsewhere, including the UK, the US and Canada.

Quick answer

The average minimum age wanted by male applicants is 25.7, and the average maximum age accepted is 32.4. More importantly, 44% of men set their maximum age at 35 or over, and 16% accept 40 and above.

What the figures really show

Across 57 usable men's applications, the average age range sought is around 26 to 32. But the average hides a wider reality: here is the breakdown of the maximum age they accept for their future wife.

Under 25
11%
25-29
30%
30-34
16%
35-39
28%
40 and over
16%

Only 11% of applicants limit their search to a woman under 25. By contrast, 44% accept a woman of 35 or over as their maximum age, a figure that undermines the idea of a uniform demand focused on youth.

The figure that should reassure

Our earlier study on the real age of Moroccan women looking for marriage showed that 41% of female applicants are 40 or over, the largest group. A question they often ask: is my age a barrier for men?

The answer, backed by the figures: not for a significant share of them. 44% of male applicants explicitly accept a woman aged 35 or over, and 16% accept 40 and above. That is not the majority, but it is far from marginal: it is a real share of serious male searchers.

Why the range is wider than you might think

25.7
years: average minimum age wanted
32.4
years: average maximum age accepted
44%
accept 35 or over

The applicant's own age plays a logical part. Older men, often already through a first marriage or approaching the search more maturely, naturally express a wider range, consistent with the divorced profiles that come up in our interviews.

Seriousness matters more than the number. In interviews at DAR TISLIT, applicants who insist on a precise, rigid figure are a minority. Most describe a flexible range, conditional above all on compatibility of values and personality rather than a strict age cut-off.

What this changes for your search

For women who hesitate to start out for fear their age will rule them out, these figures give a concrete answer: a real share of serious male applicants do not close the door after 35, far from it.

For men, it is also an invitation to nuance: an age range that is too strict can exclude profiles who are highly compatible where it counts. Our study of how Moroccan women really choose a partner shows that religion and communication weigh far more than age or looks in a marriage that lasts.
